Vanessa Grellet talks about blockchain: in number crunching we trust?

October 23, 2021, 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 pm.

Note: this will be a virtual meeting via Zoom.

Washington Apple Pi is scheduled to talk about blockchain, best known for being the foundation of cryptocurrency, in October. If you don't know about blockchain or cryptocurrency, there is a very approachable electronic book on the subject, available from Take Control Books,

https://www.takecontrolbooks.com/cryptocurrency/

What is it about blockchain that baffles everyone, but when mentioned as "cryptocurrency" fascinates headline writers, drug lords, despotic warlords, survivalists, computer scientists, and your cousin Kevin? Kevin, who could never could set the clock on his VCR, but he is now a fan of cryptocurrency?

There are a lot of things worth knowing about blockchain, and the Pi would like to delve into them, preferably with a minimum of mathematics and cryptology.
