Repairing Permissions in Mac OS X
A Film by Tom Witte
In the tradition of Ken Burns and his "Civil War" series
(documenting a time without sound recording or moving
pictures through "pan and span" techniques and still
photos), we come to a short tutorial using moving pictures
and no sound.
Mac OS X 10.2 allows you to repair file and directory
permissions using the Disk Utility. This film (20 seconds,
3.4 megabytes) illustrates a process that could take 10
minutes to two hours, depending on the speed of the machine
and the size and condition of the drive. Tom made this film
using Snapz Pro X.
