2003 Washington Apple Pi Leadership Retreat
In early August, on a day that could have been spent playing
tennis or golf, or swimming, the Washington Apple Pi leadership retired to
the Army-Navy Country Club in Arlington, VA, to assess the state of the Pi
and plan for the future. Select any photo for an enlargement and a caption

Arlington's historic Army-Navy Country Club was the site of the August Pi leadership retreat. In a blow to the reputation of the Club, the Pi leadership did not take advantage of the historic golf course, the historic tennis courts, or the historic pools. Instead, they gathered on an enclosed porch and plotted the future of the Pi. (Photo by Lawrence I. Charters, taken with a Canon S300 Digital Elph)
The Army-Navy Country Club (which, oddly, is a private institution with no connection to either the Army or the Navy) has some elegant dining rooms. The ever-frugal Pi leadership used a far more Spartan enclosed porch for their August leadership retreat. (Photo by Lawrence I. Charters, taken with a Canon S300 Digital Elph)
Attendees to the Pi leadership retreat paid their own way, renting a room at the Army-Navy Country Club in Arlington, VA, for discussions about the Pi's future direction. Midway through, they made a strategic advance to the other end of the retreat room and treated themselves to lunch. (Photo by Richard Sanderson, taken with a Nikon D-100 digital camera.)
In early August the Pi leadership held a retreat at the Army-Navy Country Club in Arlington, VA. While sane and sensible people enjoyed the summer day outside, including the wonderful pool (seen through the window), this group discussed a mission statement for Washington Apple Pi. While the Pi leadership worked inside during the August 2003 retreat, this pool beckoned. But its charms were lost on the dedicated leadership team. (Photo by Lawrence I. Charters, taken with a Canon S300 Digital Elph)
