Washington Apple Pi Goes to Macworld CreativePro 2003
Despite the on again/off again nature of the event, with titanic battles between Apple Computer and the Expo owner, Macworld New York 2003, renamed Macworld CreativePro, did take place. So Washington Apple Pi collected a bunch of intrepid souls for an all-day bus trip to the Big Apple. Select any image for an enlargement and caption.

Macworld Create 2003, the on again, off again, on again Macintosh expo in New York City, got off to an early start as the Pi used chartered buses to pick up people in the Washington-Baltimore area for the trip to the Big Apple. (Photo by Richard Sanderson, taken with a Nikno D-100 digital camera.)
On the way north, the Pi bus caravan did allow for some well appreciated rest stops at attractive locales in the middle of the freeway. (Photo by Richard Sanderson, taken with a Nikon D-100 digital camera.)
Among the on-board amenities was a nice video system that allowed the travelers to see movies on the way north. The on-board in-floor spa with bubbles, alas, was not working. (Photo by Richard Sanderson, taken with a Nikon D-100 digital camera.)
Once in New York, the Pi visitors were engulfed by the huge Jacob Javits Convention Center, a giant glass box. Inside, they could see the brand-new Power Macintosh G5, complete with its transparent plastic air deflector. (Photo by Richard Sanderson, taken with a Nikon D-100 digital camera.)
Apple, despite earlier threats, did exhibit at CreativePro, using this giant black box as an open-sided theater for their presentations. (Photo by Richard Sanderson, taken with a Nikon D-100 digital camera.)
Outside the exhibit hall and above the lobby floor, this casual meeting area has been jammed in Macworlds past -- but this was Macworld CreativePro Conference & Expo, not Macworld. (Photo by Richard Sanderson, taken with a Nikon D-100 digital camera.)
Below the exhibit level, the floor reserved for meetings looked decidedly less crowded than past years. (Photo by Richard Sanderson, taken with a Nikon D-100 digital camera.)
For those who had never been to a Macworld, the CreativePro expo floor was a bonanza of endless delights. Macworld veterans noted it was smaller than shows past. Note the black Tekserve blimp on the right. (Photo by Richard Sanderson, taken with a Nikon D-100 digital camera.)
From the hallway leading to the banquet hall, you could look down on the CreativePro floor. Shown here is the Oki Electronics exhibit. (Photo by Richard Sanderson, taken with a Nikon D-100 digital camera.)
CreativePro had a rocky history. First, it was going to be Macworld Expo New York. Then the expo owner announced it would be the "last" New York show, and future expos would be held in Boston. Apple immediately responded and said it would not only not go to Boston in 2004, it wouldn't go to New York in 2003. With everything in limbo, it is a wonder that so many vendors -- including Apple -- made it to Macworld CreativePro at all. (Photo by Richard Sanderson, taken with a Nikon D-100 digital camera.)
In addition to the exhibit floor, the CreativPro expo offered creative presentations, such as this interview with artist Peter Max. (Photo by Richard Sanderson, taken with a Nikon D-100 digital camera.)
