Most people might think Washington, DC, has fireworks only on the Fourth of July, but that is the time for scheduled fireworks. At random times throughout the year, various planes fly into the restricted airspace over Washington and the Secret Service shoots them down. Here we see a Patriot missile launch in the background, with the National Golf Monument in the right foreground.
